The goal of sustainable design at Prudent Living is to design homes that reduce the consumption of non-renewable resources and to focus on building and renovating in a way that results in comfort and good health being combined with energy efficiency.
“We are looking for a delightfully diverse, safe, healthy and just world, with clean air, water, soil, and power, economically, equitably, ecologically and elegantly enjoyed.”
– William McDonough, Architect and Editor
It no longer matters as much as it used to, if a home is pretty or big. It may not even matter who designed it or built it. Well, it may matter a bit, but it won’t be the primary concern for homeowners in the years to come. What will matter is what and how many sustainable strategies were designed into the home; strategies for clean breathable air, energy conservation, sensible use of our precious resources and contributing positively to the health of our environment.
Because of the current technology and years of experience with sustainable design strategies, Prudent Living now has the tools, the sequence and the knowledge to build homes, and to live in them, in such a way that our presence will have a “zero impact” on our environment and its resources.
Sustainable Design strategies can include any of the following renewable energies: solar electric, solar hot water, wind energy, geothermal, hydroelectric and/or energy conservation measures: sustainable design and weatherization, as well as energy audits, building diagnostics, infrared testing, electrical systems and of course help with navigating the finances of energy incentives.
